Hi everyone! I hope that all of my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that everyone else is enjoying their November. I haven’t done a Month-in-Review post since August (#procrastination), so it’s time for some basic housekeeping. I’ve also got a couple announcements.
- I have a shiny new blog layout! Thanks very much to Ashley from NoseGraze for designing it. The header is pulled directly from my Instagram feed. =D
- If you like classic sci-fi and fantasy (or e-books in general), you may want to consider signing up for Open Road Media’s Early Bird Books Newsletter, which features discounted e-books from a variety of genres. (Disclaimer: I am an affiliate, so I will get a small kickback if people use my link to sign up. I’m also a huge fan of Open Road Media, because they re-publish some great SF/F authors like Octavia Butler, Tanith Lee, Andre Norton, etc., which means that I can read classic SF/F without being at the mercy of the selection at my local used bookstores.)

I’ve been on a graphic novels kick lately, which I hope to continue. For a long time I made occasional attempts to get into comics, but usually those attempts failed miserably. Turns out I just didn’t know what kind of comics I liked, and now that I’ve figured that out, I am devouring them. It also helps that my local comic store is very inclusive and welcoming, and I don’t feel out of place going there.
My annual Goodreads reading goal for 2016 is to read 65 books. I’m currently at 58, so am relatively on track with just 7 more books to go. Here are some of the books I’m planning on reviewing before the year’s end:
- From Under Mountains, a fantasy graphic novel
- InSexts, a graphic novel that’s feminist Victorian body horror
- The Fate of the Tearling, the long awaited book 3 in the Tearling series
- The Darkest Torment, paranormal romance by Gena Showalter
- Congress of Secrets, historical fantasy about the Congress of Vienna but with alchemy
Hopefully I get to all of them and manage to reach my goal! What are you planning to read before the year’s end?
I not long ago read Congress of Secrets and really enjoyed it. More than the first book by the same author – which I also enjoyed.
Lynn 😀
I’m midway through and loving it so far!
