This is the cover of Sue Monk Kidd’s newest book, “The Invention of Wings,” which comes out in January. “The Secret Life of Bees” is one of the few novels that I’ve read and re-read over the years, and I’m very excited that Kidd is releasing another book.
Here’s the blurb from the publisher:
THE INVENTION OF WINGS tells the entwined stories of Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early 19th century Charleston, who yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls of the wealthy Grimke household and the Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, a real-life historical figure, who grows up to become a leading abolitionist and women’s rights pioneer. Kidd goes beyond the record to flesh out the rich interior lives of all of her characters, both real and invented.
I can’t wait to read it!
So psyched to read this! Even if the cover is a bit boring :-/ They could have done a better job there, I think.
It is. I wonder if it’s a generic cover image, or if the birds/water are significant to the story.
I loved the Secret Life of Bees, I didn’t know she was coming out with another book! Definitely going to have to pre-order this!
It needs to come out sooner! *waits impatiently*
Wow, I love The Secret Life of Bees – I didn’t realise she was releasing another. Will definitely look out for this.
Thanks
Lynn 😀
You’re welcome! 🙂
